Cultural Forum represented a step forward for Aveiro 2027

On the 21st of July Aveiro’s candidacy for European Capital of Culture in 2027 held its Cultural Forum of the Aveiro Region. The session took place at the Museu de Aveiro/Santa, in Aveiro, and had dozens of participants, among artists, creatives, collectives, representatives of institutions and cultural agents, both professional and amateurs, in a network meeting that represented an important moment in this process, bringing together people from the entire district of Aveiro.

The session gave everyone the opportunity to learn more about the concept and cultural program of the candidacy, as well as to inform the community of its next steps, which will result in the delivery of the second and decisive bid book, on October 21st.

At this meeting, some of the projects that will be part of Aveiro 2027’ cultural program were also presented, giving everyone the chance to meet these initiatives and obtain more information about them, which gave new opportunities to establish partnerships with the initiatives.

The Cultural Forum was also a stage for several participants to present ideas and projects of their own, giving them the chance to be part of the cultural program of Aveiro 2027. These projects represented several cultural fields and were able of not only mobilize the region as well as to take on a European dimension.

The session featured a speech by José Ribau Esteves, member of the Strategic Council of Aveiro 2027 and Mayor of Aveiro, the promoter of the candidacy. Ribau Esteves underlined the ambition of Aveiro’s candidacy for European Capital of Culture and the importance of the participation of all citizens and institutions in this process, in order to guarantee the success of the project.
