“And it changes everything”. This is the sentence that presented Aveiro 2027 – Candidate City for European Capital of Culture. The launch cerimony was held at São Jacinto, starting a movement that aims to value creativity and involve the population in the process. This candidacy is an ambitious and transverse initiative, settled in four pillars: culture, nature, technology and soul.
This ceremony also presented Aveiro’s 2027 Declaration of Support, a document open to everybody’s contribution and that gains life through it’s subscription by those who want to support the candidacy. The first to sign it were José Ribau Esteves (Câmara Municipal de Aveiro), Filipe Teles (Univesidade de Aveiro) and Salvador Malheiro (Comunidade Intermunicipal da Região de Aveiro). After that, everybody at the event had the chance to sign this very special document, opening a process that will include all the population. The journey starts now!
