Aveiro’s European dimension was particularly active at the 8th Culture Next Conference, hosted by this city from the 12 th to the 14 th of October, gathering 26 cities from 16 European countries. The network’s program focuses on empowering member organizations, planning annual conferences and meetings, and developing a platform for the promotion of member cities, as well as encouraging the collaboration between theses cities and the mobility of European artists.
Furthermore, the network aims to become a voice in shaping European cultural policies. Until the end of 2024 the activity of Culture Next is funded by the European Commission through the Creative Europe programme. The general objective of the grant is to increase the capacity of Culture Next to support more candidate cities to implement ECoC programmes and, therefore, to enhance the legacy of the European Capital of Culture project.
